Born in Gomel, Belarus, Seryoga grew up in a tough neighborhood. His music became a unique combination of Russian folk music (chastushki, which features fast pronunciation of lyrics) with modern lyrics appealing to youth and beats; he quickly rose on the Russian charts with his first single Chyorny Bumer (Black BMW).
With his amazing 2004 independent-release, the then unknown MC summoned such recognition on the streets, that even the corrupt show-biz structure of Russia was forced to open its doors to this talented newcomer. When he first appeared on Russian MTV, he was branded the "Slavic Eminem".
Initially having background in boxing (as is shown in some of his videos) he decided to express discontent of growing up in poor neighborhood and life hardships through his art.
Now the gold and platinum award winner is known by every child in Russia, his fame spanning a seventh of the earths dry surface. Admired and loved or hated and feared by millions the fame of Seryoga the Hip Hop Superstar remains as deep a mystery as the Russian soul.
He also became popular in Germany by making the song "2Kaiser" featuring German rapper Azad and released his European album "Russia's No. 1" in December 2006. Next on his list is going overseas - in 2008 he is to release the collaboration street album uniting Russian, German and American rappers.
